Welcome home to Whispering Woods, an all-age manufactured housing community located approximately 3 miles from the I-5:HWY 12 exit in south Thurston County. Centrally located between Olympia and Centralia, Whispering Woods was built as a 70 unit MH subdivision. Although some of the Residents are retired, working couples find it easy to assess both cities via Sargent Rd SW. Large ¼ acre lots allow the Residents to enjoy freedom and privacy rarely seen in MHCs. The affordable rental rate includes utilities and reflects a very good value for such a high quality land lease community.
The highest quality and most affordable community in South Thurston/North Lewis County.
Rochester was founded in 1852 by Samuel James. Robert Paton opened the first market in 1889. He also opened the first lumber mill in the early 1880s which continued to operate for over 50 years. Robert Hunt also helped promote Rochester's growth with the addition of the Northern Pacific Railroad which connected the community with Grays Harbor. Hunt's Grade, a road built to pay tribute to Robert Hunt, can still be seen from the railway today.
After the lumber industry died down, Rochester became a large producer of strawberries. Rochester today is a small bedroom community, with many residents commuting to work in surrounding communities including Olympia, Washington and Chehalis, Washington. Rochester, Washington was named after Rochester, Michigan.
